Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to support the business with day-to-day bookkeeping and month-end close processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and a desire to develop within a fast-paced finance environment. This role is perfect for someone who is proactive, hungry, wants broad exposure to operational finance and to work alongside a multi-functional team to drive one of the UK’s most iconic brands forward.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing
- Maintain accurate financial records, including purchase and sales ledgers
- Process invoices, expenses, and payments in a timely manner
- Reconcile bank statements and company accounts regularly
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, following up on outstanding balances
- Assist with VAT returns and compliance where applicable
Month-End Support
- Assist in preparing month-end journals (accruals, prepayments, etc.)
- Support balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Help prepare management accounts and supporting schedules
- Ensure all financial data is accurate and submitted within deadlines
General Finance Duties
- Support audits by preparing requested documentation
- Maintain financial filing systems (digital and physical)
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Contribute to process improvements within the finance function
Your story
Essential
- Previous experience in a bookkeeping or finance role
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (we use Xero)
- Good Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables etc.)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
Desirable
- Studying towards or having completed an accounting qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA)
- Experience supporting month-end processes
- Familiarity with VAT and UK financial regulations
